View Past IssuesThe Sustainable Energy Council declared that the Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition 2024 will take center stage in the vibrant city of Brisbane, Queensland, on September 12-13. This monumental event, held in collaboration with the Australian Hydrogen Council, is backed by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission and the Queensland Government.
Building on the success of its inaugural edition in 2023, the summit is poised to draw over 3,000 industry leaders and 150 exhibitors from every facet of the value chain. Against the backdrop of the picturesque Brisbane, this gathering promises a dynamic showcase of cutting-edge technology, discussions on new policies, and in-depth analyses of upcoming projects in the hydrogen sector.
The summit serves as a bridge, uniting government and industry forces to accelerate hydrogen development. Leaders from across the global value chain, including hydrogen stakeholders, government officials, and policymakers, will converge in Brisbane to shape the future of the hydrogen industry.
Australian Hydrogen Council CEO, Dr. Fiona Simon, expressed her pride in partnering with the Sustainable Energy Council once again. She highlighted the significance of bringing the event to Queensland, a region where significant hydrogen projects, such as the hydrogen hub projects in Gladstone and Townsville, are rapidly taking shape.
Hon Mick de Brenni MP, Queensland Minister for Energy and Clean Economy Jobs emphasized the pivotal role Queensland plays in reducing emissions. As Australia’s most carbon-intensive economy, Queensland is positioning itself as Australia’s home of hydrogen. The state envisions utilizing hydrogen across various sectors, from agriculture to hard-to-abate industries like manufacturing, resources, and heavy haulage.
Minister de Brenni stated, “With an abundance of resources, infrastructure, and a strong plan to activate skilled workforces, we are on track to be a renewable hydrogen powerhouse.”
Acknowledging the global demand for responsible practices, Minister de Brenni emphasized the importance of responsible emissions targets. Queensland aims to support international partners in achieving their hydrogen ambitions while meeting its own ambitious targets of a 75% reduction in emissions.
Peter Horn, Head of Investment and Net Zero Lead at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) echoed the sentiment, saying, “Hydrogen offers Australia and our trading partners a distinct opportunity to decarbonize, deliver energy security, and support green economic prosperity.”
Chris Hugall, Managing Director of the Sustainable Energy Council (SEC), expressed pride in the partnership with the Australian Hydrogen Council. With industry acceleration at the forefront, Hugall invited the global hydrogen community to join forces in September. Together, they can pave the way for a sustainable future and explore the limitless potential of hydrogen in the Asia-Pacific region.
As Australia gears up for a pivotal year in hydrogen development, the Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition 2024 stands as a beacon of progress. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with leading projects, innovative companies, and crucial government measures shaping the hydrogen landscape in the Asia-Pacific region.
