The state envisions utilizing hydrogen across various sectors, from agriculture to hard-to-abate industries like manufacturing, resources, and heavy haulage.

Minister de Brenni stated, “With an abundance of resources, infrastructure, and a strong plan to activate skilled workforces, we are on track to be a renewable hydrogen powerhouse.”

International Collaboration for a Decarbonized Future

Acknowledging the global demand for responsible practices, Minister de Brenni emphasized the importance of responsible emissions targets. Queensland aims to support international partners in achieving their hydrogen ambitions while meeting its own ambitious targets of a 75% reduction in emissions.

Peter Horn, Head of Investment and Net Zero Lead at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) echoed the sentiment, saying, “Hydrogen offers Australia and our trading partners a distinct opportunity to decarbonize, deliver energy security, and support green economic prosperity.”

Chris Hugall, Managing Director of the Sustainable Energy Council (SEC), expressed pride in the partnership with the Australian Hydrogen Council.
