In a historic move, Premier Andrew Furey of Newfoundland and Labrador has accepted a new energy contract with Quebec, marking a significant shift in the province’s energy landscape. The agreement, which involves the Churchill Falls hydroelectric plant and the development of Gull Island, will see Quebec pay 30 times more for electricity, securing over $1 billion annually for Newfoundland and Labrador.
