View Past IssuesThe business order of the industrial revolution was survival of the fittest. That model no longer works. We’ve emerged into something new that will allow our business operations to thrive with the inclusion of the masses. We are on a radically different playing field with information technology advancement and the emergence of globalization. This new playing field requires a higher, more evolved perspective which will ultimately lead to new energy-sustainable growth.
In the past, business and nations succeeded by defeating, destroying, and dominating markets and their competition. Leadership and politics were about shaming your political rivals and your side winning at all costs. That’s old world thinking. There is a new narrative emerging—a narrative that taps into the limitless resources we have in our people around the world.
The new conversation of business today includes the 5 C’s of business:
The 5C’s play an important role in business advancement in the “networked and connected” world. In this new narrative, a new form of authentic power is emerging—one which far surpasses business by force, but rather business by inclusion. Interaction is the higher, more evolved way of thinking and operating. Rational self interest is no longer the thinking of the day, and in fact it’s quite the opposite—interest now lies in the sharing of information, the transfer of technology, working with competition, and creating new and more advanced ways to connect and work.
Open source software such as Google and Wikipedia enrich themselves by enriching others. As a result, new and unprecedented markets emerge based on the fact that businesses advance on “trust” while the old idea of holding your cards close to the chest falls away. We simply can’t survive in this new era alone.
In the energy industry, your competition is more likely to be your next partner or strategic alliance rather than your nemesis.
What forms of business would emerge with collaboration, cooperation, collective action, complex interdependencies, and creativity? What would have to change in our organizations to create a culture of the 5C’s? These are the questions and concerns of the day.
We are shifting from a mindset of lack and survival to abundance and sharing, and that can only serve business in a positive way. When the 5C’s become the baseline of our operations, new systems and structures will emerge that are in alignment with the times—times that include exponential growth, global connectivity, and faster, stronger, more intuitive systems of support.
Supporting energy industries need to integrate the 5C’s. The OGM has created a new portal called U PUBLISH IT. This portal is made available as a free platform to “self-publish” your company content and share it with the new energy world.
The OGM self-publishing platform is a place that spans all borders, interests, and languages and can be used on any device—tablet, phone, or computer. With creative stories added each day in the 40 vertical genres that The OGM houses, there is always something for everyone to read and write about.
We know that everyone has a great story to tell. How did your technology bring new energy into existence? How did your drilling advances make it finally profitable? What is the next breakthrough in aviation? Will we be teleported some day soon?
All stories published on TheOGM.com story network are free. Stories are written about energy, by energy enthusiasts, for energy advancement. Stories will harness technology and also be delivered with the latest state-of-the-art platforms designed by smart creatives who make the world of energy work—better, faster, and more sustainable.
