Offshore Technical Services is Leading the Way in Expansion and Excellence

Offshore Technical Services (OTS) is headquartered in Sydney, Nova Scotia, with offices also located in Alberta and Newfoundland. OTS is a Canadian Energy Service Company specializing in the Commissioning and Start-Up of mid to large scale energy projects. Other services include project management, maintenance support, operations support and technical services.

Founded in 2005 by owners Rodney Colbourne, Steve MacDougall and Steve Green, OTS’ resume includes companies such as ExxonMobil, Husky Energy, PetroCanada, Nexen and many others. OTS was first contracted with Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner Canada Inc., in 2005, to provide support in the construction and commissioning of the Whiterose FPSO in Marystown, Newfoundland. Following the footsteps of this successful contract, OTS, then, moved into operations not only in Eastern Canada but also into the market of the Alberta Oil Sands. Additionally, it also met the international market’s needs.

Since 2005, OTS has been involved with a number of different projects in the Alberta Oil Sand: the Commissioning and Start-Up of the Nexen Long Lake site; the Commissioning and Start-Up planning for Cenovus Christina Lake; CSU Planning for Transalta at the Suncor Base Plant; and CSU Planning for the Mosaic Belle Plaine Potash site in Saskatchewan. Internationally, OTS also provides support to Suncor at their operation in Damascus, Syria.

The establishment of OTS’ new office in St. John’s means that it will now begin to service Newfoundland’s market once again. In fact, current and upcoming onshore/offshore projects in Newfoundland present numerous opportunities for OTS. Indeed, OTS has a good track record from its past involvement in Newfoundland which includes the commissioning and start-up of FPSO’s, fixed platforms and both oil and gas productions.

Past track records show that OTS promises nothing but excellence in executing its services. Notably, after only five years of operation, in 2009, the owners were awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Ernst and Young in the Professional/Financial Services category.

OTS will be exhibiting at the 2010 Atlantic Canadian Petroleum Show in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on June 16th and 17th as well at the 2010 Oil Sands Tradeshow and Conference in Fort McMurray, Alberta on September 21st and 22nd.

Tina Olivero

30 years ago, Tina Olivero looked into the future and saw an opportunity to make a difference for her province and people. That difference came in the form of the oil and gas sector. Six years before there was even a drop of oil brought to the shores of Newfoundland, she founded The Oil and Gas Magazine (THE OGM) from a back room in her home on Signal Hill Road, in St. John’s, Newfoundland. A single mother, no financing, no previous journalism or oil and gas experience, she forged ahead, with a creative vision and one heck of a heaping dose of sheer determination. With her pioneering spirit, Ms. Olivero developed a magazine that would educate, inspire, motivate and entertain oil and gas readers around the world — She prides herself in marketing and promoting our province and resources in unprecedented ways. The OGM is a magazine that focuses on our projects, our people, our opportunities and ultimately becomes the bridge to new energy outcomes and a sustainable new energy world. Now diversifying into the communications realms, a natural progression from the Magazine, The OGM now offers an entirely new division - Oil & Gas Media. Today, The Oil and Gas Magazine is a global phenomenon that operates not only in Newfoundland, but also in Calgary and is read by oil and gas enthusiasts in Norway, Aberdeen, across the US and as far reaching as Abu Dhabi, in the Middle East. Believing that Energy is everyone’s business, Ms. Olivero has combined energy + culture to embrace the worlds commitment to a balance of work and home life as well as fostering a foundation for health and well being. In this era of growth and development business and lifestyle are an eloquent mix, there is no beginning or end. Partnering with over 90 oil and gas exhibitions and conferences around the world, Ms. Olivero's role as a Global Visionary is to embrace communication in a way that fosters oil and gas business and industry growth in new and creative ways.
