    Energy Safety Canada Appoints Former Ovintiv Executive as New President and CEO

    Energy Safety Canada, the national safety association for Canada’s energy industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Vineeta Maguire as the new President and Chief Executive Officer effective June 11, 2024. Vineeta will succeed Murray Elliott, who announced his retirement in January after serving in the role for seven years.

    A Legacy of Leadership: Murray Elliott Retires

    Murray Elliott, the outgoing President and CEO of Energy Safety Canada, has left an indelible mark on the organization and the broader energy sector. With over three decades of experience, including significant roles at Shell Canada, Elliott’s visionary leadership has guided Energy Safety Canada’s strategy, earning global recognition for the organization.

    “Murray’s contributions to Energy Safety Canada and the broader energy industry have been substantial. His leadership and vision for health and safety have established a strong foundation for our continued growth and impact on the industry,” said Steve Reynish, Board Chair at Energy Safety Canada.

    A New Chapter: Vineeta Maguire Assumes Leadership

    Vineeta Maguire, the incoming President and CEO, brings with her more than 30 years of deep operational experience in the energy industry. With a diverse background spanning from field operations to supply chain transformation, Vineeta is poised to lead Energy Safety Canada into a new era of innovation and excellence in health and safety.

    Vineeta’s executive roles, including Vice President of Ovintiv’s Canadian Operations and Vice President of Supply Management – North America, have equipped her with the strategic vision and operational expertise necessary to drive positive change within the energy sector.
