View Past IssuesFluor Corporation announced that it has completed the completion of Albemarle’s Lithium Conversion Project in China’s basic engineering.
Fluor is providing engineering, procurement, and construction management services for the facility. Lithium is an essential precursor material for high-performance lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. After completion, the plant will produce 50,000 tons of lithium hydroxide per year.
“We’re off to a great start on this project, with the project team having achieved more than 3 million hours of safe work,” said Jim Breuer, president of Fluor’s Energy Solutions Group. “We’re excited to be part of this important project that will further strengthen the Bao’s position as a leader in the lithium and lithium derivatives industry, which is also one of the fastest growing markets in specialty chemicals.”
The project site is located in Meishan City, Sichuan Province, China. Fluor’s operations center in Shanghai, China led the project.
