View Past IssuesSuccessfully operating for over 55 years, Hamilton-based McKeil Marine Limited has enjoyed a long and meaningful relationship with the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. A familyowned business, McKeil takes great pride in its people, and it was 55 years ago that Captain Ralph Tucker, who hailed from NL, joined the McKeil team as its first captain to work alongside founder, Evans McKeil. Today, over 70 percent of the McKeil sailing crew hails from the great province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
“To help further our growth and enhance our services, we have recently opened an offi ce in St. John’s (McKeil Newfoundland & Labrador Limited) and added a new addition to our fl eet,
which was christened in the Port on May 15th. It is an exciting time for the McKeil team as we plant even deeper roots in the soil of this province.” said Steve Fletcher, the company’s president.
Under the leadership of local resident David Porter (president), the corporate offi ce of McKeil Newfoundland and Labrador Limited is located at 49 Elizabeth Avenue in St. John’s. In addition, plans are already underway to purchase a shipyard in the province to provide a facility to service and prepare its vessels for work that McKeil is doing in the province, along the East Coast and up into the Eastern Arctic. Currently providing all of the barge services for the Vale Long Harbour project, McKeil is actively seeking contracts under the Hebron and Bull Arm projects and is optimistic about the opportunities to expand its offering and grow its business in Newfoundland and Labrador.
McKeil Marine’s core business is providing cost effective transportation and project services for a wide array of industries. With its skilled sailing and support crew, marine architects and
engineers, the company works closely with customers to provide innovative marine solutions throughout the Great Lakes, the East Coast and the Canadian Arctic.
