View Past IssuesOne of the leaders in overcoming downhole challenges in the oil and gas sector is TAM International. TAM International focuses on inflatable packers, swellable packers, and other downhole needs to provide safe and efficient solutions for drilling and completion, well intervention, unconventional resources, and reservoir optimization applications.
TAM International is a privately held company that is headquartered in Houston, Texas. TAM provides technical support, products, and services from offices in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Africa, and Russia. Our regional offices are located in Calgary, Canada; Aberdeen, Scotland; Perth, Australia; Bogota, Colombia; and Dubai, UAE.
2013 was a record breaking year for TAM as they opened up offices in Midland, Texas, a new office in Erbil, Iraq, and they expanded operations by opening up a new office in Dubai.
In September TAM International opened its new Houston manufacturing facility. The manufacturing plant will triple capacity in the next few years and create local jobs. The state-of-the-art facility includes 126,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 17,000 square feet of office space. The 26-acre site is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 290 and Pinemont Drive in Northwest Houston.
TAM International’s commitment to growth and excellence was displayed in the design and building of this world-class manufacturing plant that will achieve and operate under a Leadership in energy and environmental Design (LEED) silver certification.
As part of the LEED silver certification the most current technology will be utilized to monitor and maximize all utilities. In addition, the materials used in day-to-day operations will be recycled. As part of the LEED compliance, rain water will be collected and used to maintain and irrigate the LEED-designed landscaping. Bioswales will trap pollutants and slowly remove silt from surface run-off water on its way to the on-site irrigation pond. Other LEED features include indoor recessed floor mats that drain into an underground sewer system, and designated parking for compact cars and carpooling. Specialized lighting that minimizes light pollution is being installed throughout the site.
The machine additions have been selected to afford TAM the opportunity to complete all the manufacturing processes in-house on packers up to 45-ft in length. This new capacity will give TAM the opportunity to expand their market in this area by offering a unique product in a short lead time.
As a market leader in swellable packer technology with over 45 years of expertise, it’s only natural that TAM has expanded their offerings to include an integrated completion system for unconventional resources. With PosiFrac® you have an all-inclusive, multi-stage system for open-hole hydraulic fracture applications. And TAM has the experts to run it from service centers in the regions in which clients operate from. This gives clients unprecedented control and predictability allowing for maximum efficiency.
