View Past IssuesHydraulic Systems Limited (HSL) started from their roots in the marine industry, initially in commercial marine and fishing industries and progressing into the oil and gas industry with the first project in Eastern Canada – the Panuke project in Nova Scotia.
Since then HSL has been involved in every oil and gas project in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
This was initially in pipework pre-commissioning and system commissioning services. In this type of service provision HSL provides a turnkey service for their client base from the provision of comprehensive procedure package, full service provision during the pipework pre-commissioning and system commissioning project phases, concluding with the delivery of a signed off system document package.
HSL from the early days of their existence provided manufactured hydraulic equipment. This equipment covers the entire range of hydraulic requirements used by offshore platform and drilling units.
HSL now provides this equipment for oil and gas clients with work sites in Scotland, Singapore, Venezuela and Russia.
Seasteel, an HSL client in Aberdeen, Scotland, came to HSL with a problem with their unique subsea piling system. They required a totally unmanned damping system to prevent damage to their frame during subsea piling operations. This damping system was designed and manufactured by HSL within 3-months of the initial inquiry. HSL shipped systems to Scotland and Singapore and the commissioning was completed by the senior site technicians.
Tesco a client from Calgary, Alberta had requested the manufacture of fifty hazardous area Hydraulic Power Unit assemblies within a 3-month period. This request had been declined by other manufacturers due to the very short timescale. Having assesed the requirements, HSL in conjunction with their partner companies within Pennecon Energy accepted the contract and delivered the full requirements within the project timescale and within budget.
Although the client was in Alberta, no units were shipped to that location. The HPU assemblies were shipped to USA, Russia, Chile and four units were air freighted to Venezuela.
HSL prides itself on taking a clients concept and developing a design that is then supplied as a fully tested and functional system, with all required third party certifications.
HSL supplies and services now goes beyond the borders of Atlantic Canada and extends to many corners of the world. This equipment is manufactured in conjunction with our partner companies in the Pennecon Energy Group of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada.
