View Past IssuesPertamina Power Indonesia as Subholding Power & New Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) agreed to sign a cooperation agreement with Hyet Solar Netherlands BV (Hyet Solar) to develop photovoltaic (PV) foil manufacturing.
The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by the Indonesian Embassy to the Netherlands, which was attended by the Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia Mayerfas.
The signing was carried out virtually by Dannif Danusaputro as Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina NRE and Rombout Swanborn as Chief Executive Officer of Hyet Solar.
“The signing of this MoU was done at the right moment because it is in line with Indonesia’s Vision 2045 and the G20 Presidency to achieve energy sovereignty and a sustainable energy transition in Indonesia. I believe that the cooperation between the two parties will contribute to national and global efforts in realizing greener energy,” said Mayerfas in his remarks.
In this collaboration, Hyet Solar carries a PV foil technology called Solar Powerfoil, which is a thin film made of amorphous and microcrystalline silicon solar cell layers, with a shape of 0.5 mm thick foil that can be rolled up. The advantage of PV foil technology is efficiency in terms of installation because it can be installed on a variety of surfaces.
“Pertamina NRE is a leading entity in overseeing Pertamina’s energy transition. We are all headed for net zero-emission. Pertamina is gradually transforming from a company with a majority of its business in fossil energy into a company with low carbon emissions. This strategic partnership is one of Pertamina NRE’s initiatives to develop the PV manufacturing business. The development of PV foil technology in Indonesia will be a good potential for increasing TKDN,” said Dannif.
This was echoed by Rombout who stated straightforwardly, “It is an honor for us that we can contribute to the development of technology in the energy transition in Indonesia. This is an innovative PV product, where 95% of the raw materials are in Indonesia, so it can reduce the use of imported components.”
As the initial phase of this collaboration, Hyet Solar will run a pilot project for developing a small-scale Solar Powerfoil. If the pilot project meets the investment parameters, both parties will proceed with a feasibility study.
Pertamina NRE is aggressively carrying out Solar Power Generation (PLTS) projects, which currently focus on internal Pertamina and the potential reaches 500 MW, including PLTS at Pertamina’s gas stations spread across the archipelago.
To accelerate the energy transition, Pertamina NRE collaborates with various strategic partners, both technical and investment collaborations.
Pertamina NRE plays a strategic role in Pertamina’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and supports the government to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.
Pertamina has expressed its full commitment to implementing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects so that a good and sustainable business can be realized for the surrounding environment.
