“My grandfather died in a workplace accident when my father was only two years old.”

By this statement Karl Gartly demonstrates how death in the workplace has multi-generational effects. Karl’s resolve to build his brainchild – Zayfti – comes from hearing his grandmother talk about the challenges she faced as a young widow. However, a sudden career change about two years ago was the trigger event for the birth of Zayfti. Off work for only two days, Karl had to find something to do—as he was, in his own words, “driving everyone around me crazy.” A prospecting visit to an oilfield company that was searching for an Occupational Health and Safety Manager inspired the platform design for Zayfti: “To be honest I had no intention of taking the job, but as I listened to their problems I knew a solution was required. After three and a half hours of meetings with the Safety Manager, CEO, and COO, I had basic screen shots of the application drawn up.”
