SLB OneSubsea Lands Major Contract for Equinor’s North Sea Troll Project

In a groundbreaking development for the energy sector, SLB’s OneSubsea joint venture has secured a substantial contract from Equinor to advance the Troll Phase 3, Stage 2 project in the North Sea. This significant win underscores SLB OneSubsea’s pivotal role in shaping the future of subsea production systems on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

    Accelerating Production with Innovative Solutions

The awarded contract is a testament to the strong, ongoing partnership between SLB and Equinor. Leveraging a long-term agreement, OneSubsea will implement its cutting-edge, configurable solutions to enhance the efficiency and output of the Troll Phase 3 project. The primary goal is to expedite the extraction of approximately 55 billion standard cubic meters of gas from the reservoir, a substantial boost to Norway’s energy production capabilities.

Mads Hjelmeland, CEO of SLB OneSubsea, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We deeply appreciate our long-standing relationship with Equinor, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration on the Troll field. This frame agreement is and has been an important conduit for joint value creation, supporting the transparency, teamwork, and collaborative solutions necessary to unlock maximum value from our NCS projects together.”

Enhancing the North Sea’s Energy Infrastructure

Located in the northern reaches of the North Sea, the Troll field is a cornerstone of Norway’s offshore energy production. The Phase 3, Stage 2 project involves an 8-well operation connected to the Troll A Condeep platform. This latest venture under the collaborative frame agreement signed in 2017, further solidifies SLB OneSubsea’s reputation as a trusted partner for Equinor.

The expanded scope of this project is ambitious and comprehensive. It includes the deployment of nine standard NCS2017+ vertical trees, wellheads, tubing hangers, subsea control modules, compact bridge modules with wet gas flow meters, two 4-slot templates, topside controls integration, and two umbilicals. These components are integral to the successful execution of the subsea tieback, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.

    Pioneering Technology and Sustainable Energy

SLB OneSubsea is at the forefront of technological innovation in the subsea sector. By focusing on standardized production systems compliant with NCS2017+, the company is not only enhancing operational efficiency but also paving the way for more sustainable energy practices. This approach aligns with the broader industry trend toward decarbonizing operations and maximizing resource utilization.

The Troll Phase 3 project is expected to play a critical role in Norway’s energy strategy, contributing significantly to the country’s gas output and energy security. The use of advanced subsea technology will ensure that the extraction process is both efficient and environmentally responsible.
