5 Days in the UK – Reveals the Strong Need for: Collaboration, Creativity and Competence

Day 4

Oil and Gas Leadership Group

A very early 5 a.m. start. Catching the Gatwick Express at Victoria Station took us right to the airport and onto the first flight out to Aberdeen. By 10:00 a.m. we had landed in The Oil and Gas Innovation Center where Member of the Leadership Group, Ian Phillips shared his views on the Scottish government achieving its full potential in energy generation and supply. In May 2009, the First Minister established the Scottish Energy Advisory Board for high-level, effective, open and informed engagement between ministers, the energy industry and other relevant bodies to overcome the challenges facing the energy sector in Scotland. UK Continental Shelf Maximizing Economic Recovery Review (The Wood Review)

It seems everywhere we went we heard the name Sir Ian Wood, Head of the Wood Review. And what we heard was always with great reverence and esteem. Sir Ian’s role was to produce a review that addressed the national importance of UK energy gains in the region. The UK’s oil and gas industry is of national importance and has produced 42 billion barrels of oil and gas from the UK continental Shelf and 12-24 billion more could still be available. Sir Ian’s report focused on how to make that happen.

Warm and inviting Sir Ian spent his lunch time with us sharing his stories and vision for the future. Google it and read the report – it’s transferable to all senior producing regions. Innovation, collaboration and creativity is key! Learn more at www.woodreview.co.uk
