Oil & Gas UK is the leading representative body for the UK offshore oil and gas industry. It is a not-for-profit organization, established in April 2007 but with a pedigree stretching back over 40 years.
Membership is open to all companies active in the UK continental shelf, from super majors to large contractor businesses and from independent oil companies to SMEs working in the supply chain.
The aim is to strengthen the long-term health of the offshore oil and gas industry in the United Kingdom by working closely with companies across the sector, governments and all other stakeholders to address the issues that affect the business. Learn more at www.oilandgasuk.co.uk
Department of Energy & Climate Change
After lunch we met with Mr. Simon Toole, Head of Oil and Gas Licensing, Exploration and Development. DECC is responsible for energy security, climate change action, renewable energy, energy affordability, fairness in costs/benefits/policy, growth support and energy sustainability. As well DECC is responsible for issuing licenses for expiration, regulating field development and pipeline activity, regulating environmental considerations and giving access to oil and gas exploration and production data.

HM Treasury
Her Majesty’s Treasury is a busy place. Everyone clambering into meetings that will further develop the financial well-being of the region. HM Treasury is the government’s economic and mince ministry, maintaining control over public spending, setting the direction of the UK’s economic policy and working to achieve strong and sustainable economic growth.
Meeting with Neco Heslop, the Head of Energy and Climate Change Tax we learned about the tax regime and its implications and impact on the economy as it relates to the energy industry. HM Treasury is also responsible for the country’s financial services policy, strategic oversight of the UK tax system, delivery of infrastructure projects across the public sector and facilitating private sector investment into UK infrastructure and ensuring the economy grows in a sustainable way.
